Recess was my Favorite Subject

I am a fan of recess and free time, excellent article.

"A study of 11, 000 third-graders found that kids who have more recess behave
better and are likely to learn more. Researchers at Albert Einstein College
of Medicine concluded that a daily break of 15 minutes or more in the school
day could improve learning and social development. But, as the researchers
point out, less children have recess and time for play. WHYY's Behavioral
Health reporter Maiken Scott discussed the findings with therapist Dan
Gottlieb."

it’s been a long time i shouldn't have left you without a dope beat to step to

Sorry for the lack of updates; work, zine, and music have all been filling my life with things to do. I am currently working on a paper, yes paper, version of Bystander. I forgot how much fun doing a physical layout can be.

Howe seems to be moving along construction wise, we have the furniture picked out and I have a meeting this week about “security” in the building. I’ve been told we will open in November; I’m trying to be optimistic.

I was in the Times Union a month or two back, picture and quotes, sadly no picture in the online edition. It was a piece about people using the library to look for employment and to navigate the wonderful world of unemployment. Actually if you have been paying any attention to the news there have been a million articles all over the country about library usage going up, and anyone on the front lines can tell you it’s true.

I went to Comic Con and got some stuff signed by the guys who do DMZ. It was an awesome experience that reminded me how awesome my wife is; she came along and was well behaved in a sea of people she could have mocked.

We also replaced our shower, it was a nightmare and the some of the walls are still not up in the bathroom. It was a lesson in the fragility of modernity.

I am oddly at peace while the world seems to be falling apart. For once I have left the tinfoil hat in the closet. If it’s the end (economically), I can’t stop it.
